Frequently asked questions
As a foster-based rescue, 100% of your donation goes directly toward the care of the dogs. Because there is no central "shelter" building, funds are not lost to commercial rent or utility bills. Instead, they cover:
• Veterinary care: The single largest expense. This includes desexing, vaccinations, microchipping, and parasite prevention.
• Foster supplies: Food, bedding, bowls, crates, and safety harnesses for volunteer carers.
• Specialist medical Needs: Emergency surgeries or treatments for dogs arriving from high-risk situations (like pounds or farms).
• Rehabilitation: Training and behavioral support for working breeds to ensure they are adoption-ready.
On average, Dusty Paws spends between $500 and $600 on "standard" veterinary costs for every dog that enters their care. This covers their basic health clearance before they can be listed for adoption.
